The National Bravery Awards are recognition for outstanding
deeds of bravery by young children in India. Children younger than 16 years of
age are honored by Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW). These awards were
incepted in the year 1957. Since then there have been several other awards
incepted under this category.
The recipients of these awards are honored with a medal, a
certificate, and a cash prize. The government of India also provides financial assistance
to the awardees to complete their schooling.
The awards are announced on November 14th of each
year and the Prime Minister bestow the awards on the eve of Republic Day.
